East Lothian

East Lothian located only 30 minutes from Edinburgh is one of Scotland’s best golf regions, with 22 courses offering choice to golfers of all standards and tastes. You may recognise many of the courses located within Scotland’s Golf Coast - Dunbar, North Berwick, Gullane, The 2013 Open Championship course at Muirfield, and Musselburgh one of the world’s oldest, where golf has been played since 1672.

The North Berwick Golf Club

Golf has been played over the historic West Links course since the 17th century with the Club being formed in 1832. We continue to play over the same piece of land as they did back then.

With breathtaking views of the Firth of Forth and islands of Bass Rock, Craigleith, Lamb and Fidra, as well as the town of North Berwick itself, there are few places better in the world to play golf!

A true championship links course, having hosted Final Qualifying for The Open Championship and both Gentlemen and Ladies Amateur Championships.  An excellent test of golf awaits you.

The West Links Course

The West Links Course is a true links located on the edge of the Firth of Forth. It is a true championship course having hosted many events over the years.

Playing the course is all about imagination with the sea in play on 6 holes! The beach is just one long and sometimes wet hazard if the tide is in. You will find walls in the middle of fairways and in front of a green. All of these hazards are an important part of our history charting the development of the course from a few holes through to the full 18 hole course. You will enjoy on your visit.

Gullane Golf Club

Gullane is blessed with superb turf and a climate that allows all year round golf. Visitors are welcome to play our championship courses which offer dramatic coastal views and a golfing challenge to savour.

Gullane No. 1 (1884) has a long history of hosting national and international championship golf events, most recently the Local Final Qualifying for the 2013 Open Championship at neighbouring Muirfield.

Gullane No. 2 (1898) was laid out by the legendary Willie Park Jr  and has also been used for Open Championship Qualifying as well as the Seniors Open Amateur.

Gullane No. 3 (1910) was also designed by Willie Park Jr. It may be the shortest of the three courses, but it provides a wonderful test based on shot-making skills rather than power.

Gullane No. 1

The history of Gullane No. 1 Course stretches back to 1884. Carved into the ancient links turf, pot bunkers, wispy grasses and smooth-running greens the course is a unique challenge for the serious golfer. Add to that the fabulous views across to Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth, Fife and beyond and you have one of the world’s most cherished golfing experiences. The architect of Course No. 1 is unknown. The type of grass is predominantly Bent on the fairways and Fescue on the greens. There are 124 bunkers on the course and the average green size is 550m Sq.

Gullane No. 2

Gullane No. 2 was laid out by Willie Park Jr in 1898. Running alongside No. 1 for the first seven holes, the course sweeps down to a nature reserve next to Aberlady Bay before turning back towards home and the Visitors' Clubhouse. At 6,385 yards, No. 2 is shorter than its older sibling but provides an equally stern test as it proved during final qualifying for the Open Championship in 1980, the Millennium Seniors Open Amateur Championship, and the British Girls Home International Matches in 2011.

Gullane No. 3

Of all the courses at Gullane, No. 3 enjoys some of the best views across Aberlady Bay to Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth beyond. Spectacular and challenging, No. 3 is a course that demands a deft touch and a cool head. Forget the yardage chart; this is a course for shot-makers. The type of grass is predominantly Bent on the fairways and Fescue on the greens. There are 67 bunkers on the course and the average green size is 450m Sq.
